FeminismA guide to a self-sufficient woman

A guide to a self-sufficient woman

Building a healthy relationship with ourselves can be quite challenging sometimes.

There are a few things I’m taking into consideration when it comes to being an independent woman.

1. Taking care of your needs

Start with basic needs.

One can’t get to self-actualization without having food and shelter.

And one can easily lead to anxiety and other mental problems in the absence of basic needs.

Then go further.

What is important to you?

What makes you calm and balanced? Hint: it can be taking a warm bath, running in the morning, cooking vegan dishes for yourself and your boyfriend, etc.

For me is having a morning routine every day, smelling herbal potions, doodling, journaling.

Write them down. And then take the time to enjoy them.

2. Accepting where you are

This can be a hard one. And there’s no quick way to do it.

It involves an everyday practice of listening to your body. It means to stop resisting and learn the lessons.

It means to stop working when you feel tired.

It means to cry when you feel like crying. Life is painful sometimes.

Choose to accept the way things are and move into the direction of learning.

Choose acceptance before ignorance.

And most of all, choose yourself above others.

3. Going after what you want

Creating goals has been such a powerful tool for me lately.

Breaking down the wheel of life into 8 aspects:

  • Health
  • Love
  • Career
  • Money
  • Spirituality
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Fun

Choose your goals for each of them. It can be more than one per each.

Then break them into smaller, reachable goals.

And the most important: WORK for them!

They’re not gonna come true if you’re not taking small steps towards them.

TIP: Don’t get discouraged if you’re changing your mind. It’s actually a step forward towards finding out what you really want & achieving it!

4. Having your own income

There are so many ways to make money these days!

Find what you’re good at. Start exploring how you can make some cash out of it.

You don’t need to do what you hate.

In fact, I strongly advise you to not do that.

Build up a plan. If you can’t immediately make money out of what you love, set up a plan working 6 months on a 9 to 5 job WHILE helping yourself to get where you want to be.

As a designer & illustrator, I found many ways to make money online while traveling.

(I will get back to you on that!)

I hope this guide will help you to achieve more of life and to love every bit of it (including yourself)!

Write down in the comments YOUR WAY of being a self-sufficient woman!

So much love to you,

Luna
